Making a Federal Case

and a State one as well

UPDATE: On September 4th Massachusetts PASSED the law regulating
foreclosure rescue scams !
Please do still contact your elected officials and ask them to pass a similar Federal Law

After watching yet another TV News story about people like us who are loosing and have lost their homes
to predatory foreclosure 'assistance' programs nationwide. I learned that Massachusetts had passed an
emergency law, 940 CMR 25.00. Foreclosure Rescue Transactions and Foreclosure-Related Services, to help
homeowners out. The down side is that this law is only temporary and due to expire at the end of August 2007
unless people show an interest in making it permanent.

As a result of this new information I contacted the Attorney Generals Office in Boston and asked what I could
do to assist in getting this law passed and made permanent. I was told that the best way to do this is to get in
touch with my State Legislators. I want to encourage everyone reading this to use the link below to go to the
Massachusetts Index of Legislative Representatives to find their elected officials and contact them by email
or letter asking them to recommend the passage of 940 CMR 25.00. Foreclosure Rescue Transactions and
Foreclosure-Related Services into permanent law.

Because the people who are ultimately behind these 'Rescue Schemes' are primarily from from other states,
mostly California, just passing this into law here in Massachusetts will still allow them to prey on people in other
states. To try to stop this from happening to ANY ONE else I want to urge you to ask your Senators and Congress
people to also push to get this made into a Federal Law.

What if you don't live in Massachusetts?
Well obviously you can't ask your elected officials to pass 940 CMR 25.00, but you can reference it and ask
them to pass something similar in your home state.
Also, don't forget to mention making this a Federal Law too.
